I did it!!

In an earlier post today, I was worried that I wouldn't get a present for a family member started and finished, but I DID IT!!!

Whoop whoop......

I thought you might like to see the pictures..... I was inspired by the Craft Stamper Magazine Dec 10 edition, which showed how to make bespoke buttons and then a decorated button tin.

The buttons were homemade, which I then attached the vintage style cotton holder.  The tape measure stamp is one from the Fashion House collection by scrapbook sisters.  I also used buttons in the shape of needles, sewing machine and scissors which I found at Dunelm Mill.

I bought some white Fimo clay and set the kids off to make the buttons, which they loved and has now become a present, which you can see in the picture above and small box is full of homemade buttons.

I loved decorating the boxes, I hope you enjoyed seeing them.

Snow bound

It has been awhile since I last blogged, but being snow bound and on holidays from work, I have had a opportunity to finish the Christmas cards, complete a few scrapbook layouts and Christmas projects.  I still have one important one to start and finish... ugh I could be disappointing a family member..... whoops.

Here are a few pictures of the cards and the project, I will be entering these for a few challenges,

Enjoy

Traditional Christmas card - I was using up some cards with pre-cut apertures (I mean holes- is that the correct term?)  I just took the easy approach and stuck some paper into the background used the woodware wreath that I have coloured and glittered.

A close up of the wreath, with the crystals and the half pearls.

Little Donkey

My most favourite image of Christmas, the Little donkey, I found this via the free digi stamps blog, but can't for the life of me remember whose image this is ... but I love it - thank you!

 Frosty the Snowman

Again another favourite image,  this is from meljens designs I love her clear and simple style, these have been from her freebie range, as are the Santa coming up and a lovely holly leaf design.

I would like to enter this card into the Scrapbook Sisters challenge 15 which is for non-traditional colours.

21st Century Santa

Ditching the traditional colours in favour of someting more modern, this card was sent to my friend whose Christmas colours are always pink, white and silver.... sometimes I can squeeze a bit of purple into her house too!

Another Meljen's design, so cool...

Modern Wreath

Another take on the woodware wreath stamp, using the non-traditional colours, I was particulary pleased with the bow on this card, something of a challenge this year has been to make nice bows.

I would like to enter this card into the Scrapbook Sisters challenge 15 which is for non-traditional colours.

Christmas Project

I saw this idea on the ladybug crafts ink blog, and I thought this would make a prefect, personal present for an old family friend, who always joins us for Christmas - I hope she likes, if not I'm sure she'll like the chocolates I will fill the box with.

Front side which is the only one I have decorated with chipboard christmas shapes, coloured, gloss accented and glittered!

My attempt at more bows and tying up the sides!

I hope you have enjoyed the posts!

Colouring in!

I started playing with some ProMarkers I bought from QVC, I have been trying to start colouring my own images after seeing the amazing blogs and cards that other people do. I'm not sure that my colouring and blending are great, but practice will make perfect... or at least not bad!

I found these images on digistampboutique.co.uk as part of their freebie range.  I was drawn to the cup and saucer and cake, as this matched by idea for the Scrapbook sisters challenge, for Tic Toc... there is always time for tea in my life, add cake and that is time well spent!

Time for Tea and Cake!

Get Well Soon

I have had to make a get well card for my Nanna, who is currently recovering from an operation, so I used the more obvious prompt of Flower Power to make this card.  I finally managed to use brads and ribbons and make sure that the bits at the back were hidden.  I can't believe that I am making cards and also enjoying it as much as I do!

The result of the second wave of the inspiration is
Thanks for looking.

Flower Power

As always I have been preparing my entry for the scrapbook sisters challenge but I was quite inspired by the title 'Flower Power'.

I have had in my stash a set of Hippy Chic papers from K&Co, I loved them when I saw them, thinking great, I'll get all the old 70s photos out and scrap them, of course, this was a great thought and hasn't happened yet!  BUT when I saw the title Flower Power I had to use the papers, here are the results

I should have called this Blog 'Only on Sunday'

I only ever seem to craft or have brain space for the Blog on a Sunday, normally when I am entering the Scrapbook Sisters challenge.  Here's another entry I saw the idea in Craft Stamper magazine and been dying to use it for a while.  It's maybe a bit arty for me but I enjoyed doing it anyway... isn't that what crafting is all about?

Here we go my entry for Full Moon.

The moon is decoupaged over the mask created in the triangle.

I hope you like it

Another first...Christmas cards

Inspired by the challenge on the scrapbook sisters challenge I had a go at making some Christmas cards, I am pleasantly surprised by how well they turned out..

This is the first card I made using the brief over the edge from the scrapbook sisters challenge, both the silver card and and the scalloped circles are over the edge, so i hope it fits!

There's a lot of detail in this little tree, I'm quite pleased how the mix of colours worked but not sure about the baubles..
the stamp is from a christmas collection by papermania, a bit of bargain at Scrapbook Sisters

Having done a traditional colour way I thought I would have a go using up some papers in my stash, I like the idea but next time the trunk of the tree will be a silver colour, as I think the black is too strong

I also need to learn how to photograph mirror card, without having pink tinge of my face taking the photos!

Still trying to upload the photos!.... I will get the hang of this

This was the second attempt!
The card entered for the ScrapbookSisters first challenge
The first card using the Pink and Black brief!
Now I have worked out how to do this - whoop whoop!

The second attempt!

Second go....  I spent yesterday having such a lovely day at the scrapbooksisters crop.  I thought I would try to add the photos of the cards I made for their first card challenge, I'm now struggling with the second challenge.

Card making doesn't come easily to me at the moment (such hope in the future!!) but I keep trying.  But having the inspiration of lovely Julie, from Rainbow Days blog julie-rainbowdays, I keep having a go...
